Aiden Connor J arrived into the world on Thursday 2nd December 2010 at 2:47am, weighing 9lb and 5oz.
Sorry it's taken so long to update this. Things have been pretty hectic and it's still taking a bit of adjustment (and the stitches still haven't quite healed yet - too much info?).
Anyway, we're both doing fine and Jamie keeps hovering over both of us as if we're made from precious china (which is nice).
Not sure if/when I'll update this next, but for now, take care, have a happy Christmas and may 2011 bring you all you wish for.

No, I'm not back to my wicked old ways. I'm a respectable married woman these days. No, really, I am, honest...
Just sitting at home with a bit too much time on my hands. But I really should make the most of it as it will be pretty full on in a little over 4 weeks (all going to plan).
In case you're wondering just what on earth I'm rambling on about and if the attached photo doesn't make it obvious, I'm now on maternity leave, being just over 35 weeks gone and, well, bricking myself.
Well, it had to happen, I hear some of you say.
Anyway, not sure how regular my return will be, but thought I might as well let anyone who knows me (or maybe even cares a bit) know my news.
Anyway, that's all for now.
Hugs

Couldn't let today pass without comment since it happens so rarely but today is officially my 7th birthday!
Yes, just like the Olympics, once every 4 years, I actually get to have one
Jamie's been showering me with 'gifts' all day and, I suspect I'm in for a couple more before the day is finally over.

Well, I'm having a little difficulty believing it myself but at 3pm on Saturday 27th, I finally become an honest(ish) woman. Who'd have believed it.
Anyayway, thanks to everyone who has connected with me in one way or another on this site over the past few years.
Best wishes to you all.

Finally managed to get through to my sister to tell her the news. She was delighted and had some news of her own.
Apparently, she's found herself a boyfriend. Now, given my current situation, far be it from me to begrudge my little sis a steady relationship, but it turns out that the guy in question, Connor, is from Cavan. Yes, that's right, you did hear me correctly, Cavan!!!
How could she? We've never had one of those in the family before. I think I may even have to disown her!!! Whatever will the neighbours think when they find out?

For the first time in my life, I finally decide to dispense with the services of condoms.
Have to say, I never appreciated just how much mess they prevented until last night.
Ah well, I guess I'll get used to it.

OK, you'd probably better sit down (I know I had to).
Well, it's like this, Jamie has asked me to marry him and (believe it or not) I've accepted.
So there you have it; I'm now on the path to being made an honest woman. Now isn't that a scary thought?
Guess I must be growing up after all. Who would have thought it?
For the record, just in case you thought I was growing soft in my old age, I did take him to bed and give him a bloody good seeing to as part of my acceptance.

Feeling decidedly shitty today. Cold has brought on a chest infection (and when you've got a chest like mine, that's some infection) and I just can't really be bothered with anything much at the moment.
Have decided that there simply is no justice in this life. 14 years as a smoker and in all that time I hardly even had a cough to show for it; almost 6 months as an ex-smoker and I get this. Grrrrrr!!!!!
To top it all off, in just a few hours time, I turn 27. Trying to work out if I can cling on to mid-twenties for one more year or do I just bite the bullet and accept that my late twenties have finally hit me?
Looks like maybe I'm going to forced to grow up after all. Now there IS a scary thought.
Ah well, off to put my feet up on the sofa and watch some brainless telly before bedtime.

Feeling particularly shitty today on account of a heavy cold that seems to have settled in my chest. Grrrrrr. Immune system clearly not recovered from being ill at the tail end of last year. o make things worse, Jamie's not home until around 7pm so I don't even have him to look after me.
Time to get another hot-water bottle, take some day nurse tablets and go back to bed.

Warning over online dating scams

Read this on the BBC News site at lunchtime today. Has anyone out there ever encountererd this sort of thing?
~~Shelley~~
==============================================
People using online dating agencies are being warned to look out for fraudsters who want to steal their money.
The Office of Fair Trading (OFT), as part of its scams awareness month, says dating frauds are becoming more common.
The criminals create attractive online profiles for themselves, designed to attract a particular victim.
They then use bogus sob stories to lure them into handing over personal information, such as their address and bank account details.
Heartless
"Online dating scammers are heartless. They are happy to exploit people's emotions for their own gain," said an OFT spokeswoman.
Once the scammers have made contact with a potential victim, through dating websites or chat rooms, they build up the victim's confidence in their potential partner.
Then they ask them for money, with a false story to back it up.
Among the common stories, says the OFT, are:
* They would really like to meet you, but do not have enough money to travel * They are stranded abroad and do not have money for travel or visas * They have been robbed and beaten, and require urgent surgery or treatment for a serious illness - and you are the only person who can help them.
Tell-tale signs
The authorities say there are several tell-tale signs that the story and the person apparently behind it are bogus.
Among them are requests to send them cash by money transfer, no ability to contact the person except via the internet, and a particularly good-looking photo.
The basic advice is never to hand over personal details, such as home address or bank account details, to someone you have never actually met.

Part of me is a little bit annoyed with myself for letting it get to me so much, but there you go.
It's not a great photo (which is perhaps why I've chosen it) but it was taken in early October on a visit to my aunt and uncle's farm in Co. Kilkenny while I was recovering from shingles; which goes a long way to explain my rather pasty complexion, my less than enthusiastic expression and my trousers looking like they're two sizes two big for me on account of me losing over 2 stones in weight while I was ill. Funnily enough, Jamie quite likes it for some reason.
Not quite sure why I've bothered since, as I said in my post (Wolf_James A Reply), it proves nothing and, if I had the time and the ability, it could probably have been faked fairly easily, but there you have it. Take it or leave it.

For the benefit of any of you who might be interested, it's just occurred to me that it's been more than 5 months since I last had a cigarette!!!!!!!!! Who'd have thought I'd be grateful to a bout of shingles?!?!?
Stopping smoking and getting myself a boyfriend: did anyone read anything in the news about hell freezing over?
