Over When It's Over...
Over When It's Over... What do I write about tonight? Do I write about my day at work, how monotonous it is, day in, day out? Do I write about the people I fight with everyday because they think their shit don't stink, yet when they walk in the room, the room stinks up like Ron Jeremy at a fuck my ass only convention? Do I write about the fact after a long stressful day at work, I want to go have a drink with friends, yet that makes you a drunk? Or the fact that we now have 21 republican candidates for President and only 6 candidates for the Democrats. Guess we know who is more united unfortunately. Hell no I do not want to write about that BS. When I am having a bad day I love to listen to music. I love music that tells a story. i grew up listening to good old Rock N Roll. In my 20's and early 30's I became a huge fan of grunge music and alternative, stuff like Pearl Jam, Bush, Stereophonics, Stone Temple Pilots, The Killers, Foo Fighters, Barenaked Ladies, Blind Melon, Blur, Garbage, Green Day, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Ween, and Weezer. But when the hell was the last time any of these bands put out anything good. OK, THe Adventures Of Rain Dance Maggie by the Chili Peppers a couple years ago was really good, but I digress. Rock and Alternative music just isn't the same any more. The last few years I was searching for something different. One night in 2011 I happened to catch the CMA awards flipping through channels and I saw Eric Church perform "Drink In My Hand". I was like, what the hell is this? A country song that is actually good, has a groove, and a little kick ass to it? That just can't be. Now there was always the occasional country song I liked like Friends In Low Places, Fishing In The Dark, or To Write A Country Song (You've Got To Be An Alcoholic) [That last one is Dan Hart, if you don't know it, google it]. But Eric Church seemed like the piece of music that was missing the last few years that I was craving. Eric Church turned me on to newer country and I have since become huge fans of artists like Zac Brown Band, Blake Shelton, Florida Georgia Line, Dierks Bentley, Brantley Gilbert, and Old Dominion. But this leads me to my point for my blog today. When i've had shit days like I did today and the world is wanting to cut my throat, fuck my ass, and suck my dick, and not even buying me a pizza first, I crank up some Eric Church. One of my favorites is Cold One. I also love Drink In My Hand, Guys Like Me, Talladega, Homeboy, Give Me Back My Hometown, Jack Daniels, Creepin', Hell On My Heart, Like A Wrecking Ball, and The Outsiders. But my all time favorite Eric Church song is a song made popular on Satellite Radio, Sirius XM The Highway. Never released as an official single, yet it hit # 1 on the The Highway Top 30 countdown in June 2013. It's called "Over When It's Over". I hope you know this song. If not, please google it or find it on you tube. It's one of my favorites, and it gets me through the day. Here are the Lyrics: Music kicks ass. Find your favorite song like I did. It helps get you through everyday BS called LIFE! Cheers! "Over When It's Over" by Eric Church It's over when it's over Ain't it, baby, ain't it? Rips ya like a dagger, Can't it baby, Can't it Wish we could do it over Damn it, baby, Damn it We had it in the air, we just couldn't land it It's the first snap of the last straw, Where regrets outlast the alcohol It's a cold sweat, in an empty bed, And dreams are like a knife, When you're hanging by a thread Ain't no "Maybe we can make it if we just play the right cards" Now it's over when it's over Ain't it, baby, ain't it? Rips ya like a dagger, Can't it baby, Can't it Wish we could do it over Damn it, baby, Damn it We had it in the air, but just couldn't land it It's a white flag, It's a stop sign, It's the last long drag, on a Marlboro light It's a long night, beating up the past Know when the first lie, is gonna hit you back This ain't no gone for good drill, Or no goodbye false alarm, it's over Yeah it's over, Yeah it's over. There ain't no better way, We could make it work It's a blank page, When you're outta words Yeah it's a flat line, It's a heart attack Yeah it's too far gone, to be shocked back It's a one way, with nowhere to turn It's a no brakes, baby, crash and burn Ain't no map gonna ever bring us back From where we are It's just over when it's over Ain't it baby, Ain't it Rip ya like a dagger, Can't it baby, Can't it Wish we could do it over Damn it, baby, Damn it We had it in the air, and just couldn't land it |

While the lyrics aren't bad on this one, I don't like country music, not the old kind, not the new which is mostly a mix of country, hip hop, and . I'm classic rock all the way!! WITHOUT PASSION LIFE IS NOTHING

I used to say that too. But I got to the point where I needed some new music. I have never been able to listen to the same stuff over and over. Wow, ther eis the Overs again... LOL Some of my favorite classics are Back In Black, Sweet Home Alabama, Piano Man, Blinded By The Light, Black Betty, Hotel California, For What It's Worth, Only The Good Die Young, Heat Of The Night, Take It TO the Limit, YOu GHOt Lucky, Hey Jude, and American Pie But I needed to fulfill that urge for new stuff that good old rock n roll stopped providing just due to the shitty nature of the new music biz these days. It seems Modern Country is almost close to the new rock n roll these days. Why else would artists like Sheryl Crow, Steven Tyler, Darius Rucker, Bret Michaels, Dallas Smith (of Default), and Aaron Lewis (of Staind) all go country recently? Because they know it brings them a bigger audience today then standard new rock.
