Bowing Down To The Inevitability A Poem
Bowing Down To The Inevitability A Poem Bowing Down The Inevitability Written in 2016 As the days go by, I am getting older Wisdom has come at a price. My youth sacrificed. I wish I could say I enjoyed the ride. Sometimes I did I will not lie. But time after time I wished I were someone else Someone better In some way than myself. Reflecting on one's life The picture may not be nice. Should I just wish That I was the evil queen And could ask of the mirror If I was the fairest of them all? But with the competition Known about in advance And squashed? I am not that cruel Nor delusional I know there will always be Someone who comes along Better in a certain area than myself Or just more exotic or unusual. The days go by And accepting fate And it's twisting and turning nature Will come to be. As that is what growing older And wiser is all about. Bowing down the inevitability Of aging And in more ways than one , gravity. Independently Romantic Sounds Better Than Lonely |
