The Grandiose Ghost. A Poem
The Grandiose Ghost. A Poem I am not done. My work of words Nowhere near complete Or finished. I have volumes I have collections I have stand alone books That have yet to be written. Sorry if this sounds grandiose I have so often fought that ghost. Knowing it wins More often than not. Who cares about Me and my words? The ghost taunts I need friendlier ghosts In my corner Do you think Casper Is for hire? Those ghosts of Dickens Were they friend or foe? I know they were there To teach a lesson Not to lose one's soul. They are the conscience The reminders of our better selves The dreams and goals We once valued But life quashed And the grandiose ghost stomped. I lessen his grip His voice to be drowned out As I keep on keeping on Writing with my heart's desire My mind's fire Burning bright like the light Sometimes shining Sometimes dim But never dwindling Into nothingness. Like the grandiose ghost Would wish. Independently Romantic Sounds Better Than Lonely |

Powerful intro and first verses, and the ending lines so reminiscent of: "Better to burn out than fade away..." Cheers my lady - P
