Run with the Hunted
Run with the Hunted Hi. I am within a conundrum. I really love that word, but hate when I feel its effect. My sleeping habits have me all screwed-up. It is beginning to affect my day-to-day in a rather negative way. I woke up and it was dark, and it will be for hours still. I have a friend that works peculiar hours. 11AM-8PM. That makes "lunchtime" somewhere around 5PM. And it ain't dinner, just lunch. Sandwich... whatnot. Personally, I don't eat lunch. I mean, I take in some almonds and string cheese -- but it is hardly a meal. With it being so late for her, that makes dinnertime (or supper, as they say sometimes) around 9:30 or 10. Dessert would be just about now. I don't prefer sweets, but a good dinner deserves a good dessert. I generally pass. I DID have a piece of peach pie just yesterday (or was it two days ago, now?). On my birthday (the 31st), I thought it would be appropriate. Strange, cuz it didn't taste like anything. I mean, I was REALLY looking forward to eating peach pie -- but it was awful. By MY standards, anyway. Truly NO taste whatsoever. My pal said she would bake me a peach pie that will make my mouth water. She's from the south, so I don't doubt it. Just wonder when she'll be able to fit it into her schedule. I'm not very demanding in that regard. Like I said, sweets aren't really my thing anyway. Could be months from now... and doesn't really matter to me. I DO like peaches, though. Even slices from a can. Such an interesting texture, like a soft apple combined with a grape... or something. I remember Michigan peaches in thick syrup that would make your knees bend. I dunno why my childhood memories tend to reflect back to Michigan. I like grapes, too. Especially when they come in a green bottle with a cork on top! I'm pretty certain there are not many grapes grown up in Michigan. Could be wrong. Kzoo... any wineries up that way? Is there a point here? Sheesh, I dunno. Bumbling. Touching my keyboard ( we have an agreeable relationship ). I'm certain many of you folks have seen Sideways. If you haven't, you should be ashamed of yourself. Somehow, I always relate with the character Miles, not Jack. Jack is dumb but Miles is sublime. Affectionate. Concerned and IN this for the duration. Even though he lies, and cheats and steals ( from his own mother!?! ) When he pops that cork and spills it into a styrofoam cup, I bawl my eyes out. Every-freaking-time. Apparently there is a sequel, "Vertical". Written, but not produced. Wine. Whine. Whatever. Cheers to ya! |

Lots of wineries here and lots of grapes. A lot of the grapes also go for juice, and for table grapes. I lived in Lawton for years next to vineyards. There's a big Welches plant there and at least three wineries a couple of miles away in Paw Paw. The Traverse bay area also has vineyards. The Lake just to the west has a moderating effect on the climate. In September my place always smelled so sweet from all the ripening grapes. I miss it. It's been ten years since I lived there, and I don't visit it much. Become a member now and get a free tote bag.
