MuM's the Word
MuM's the Word This is an on-going issue for me ….How much do you tell people? I have found, especially on the road, it is better to keep a low profile. Most of the people in the RV parks are retired vanilla folks. And well, I'm ANYTHING but vanilla. Of course being a single female, I get the looks….It is very UNCOMFORTABLE walking into a function at one of these places. The husbands are are OoGgLling me and the wives are giving me the stink eye…..can't win for loosing so I don't go to too many functions. Not to mention the whole…."What do you do for a living?" question. And depending on the person or persons asking the question…I may or may not actually tell them. It also depends how long I'm going to be at any one given place. I mean if I'm going to be gone the next day or so why not….but if your going to be there for a couple of months, well then discretion is in order. State parks are great if you want to have a good time and not worry about gossip. Buddy likes the state parks better too….usually more room and Trees. I had dinner the other night and let it slip out what I do for a living…I have since had dinner again with this individual and he had quite a few FALSE preconceived notions as to what I do….that I had to politely but firmly correct. And yes this was a narrow minded vanilla guy from the midwest ……I should learn….ducks fly with ducks…..geese with geese….and freaks with freaks. The minute it slipped and I saw his reaction…..I knew, I had made a mistake. When they ask…I usually wait till they are taking a drink of something …then tell….see if they choke on their drink or not. An educated, experienced individual will not choke, but have a sly smile on his lips as he sips his drink. |

I'm pretty open about most mundane things, but I like to keep some tings private until some trust is established; however, I'm not above enjoying a little shock value occasionally, just for fun.
