*** On the cob
*** On the cob June 11 of each year is the day to celebrate National Corn on the Cob Day. Fresh corn on the cob is a summertime treat that people from all corners of the United States look forward to as we start the picnic season. Boiling, steaming, roasting or grilling are the most common ways of preparing corn on the cob. If it is grilled or oven roasted, the corn is usually left in its husk during the cooking process. Proper dinner etiquette for eating corn says it is appropriate to hold the cob at each end with your fingers. A great hood memory to me was eating corn on the cob. I did not care if it was boiled, roasted or grilled. Plenty of butter and salt dripping down my arms ,, yummy. The whole ritual was fun. Boys out to the corn patch to pick the corn. Then depending on how it was to be cooked, shucking the hull off. Then sitting drooling as the slowest corn in the world cooked . Have you had cooked corn on the cob? Do you like it? Are you like me, going a bit overboard with the butter? It is not ready for picking here, But I may go get some imported from else where and have some today |

Thanks for the reminder, as I'm going grocery shopping today. I love lots of butter on mine, and usually boil it. But at an outdoor barbecue prefer it grilled. It would never occur to me to wrap it in Bacon - Have you tried it? And I haven't tried the flavoured or spiced butters, either. Corn on the cob ... YES! Grew up with it always boiled, lots of butter and salt. Had it grilled for the first time last weekend - that was a nice switch. Opportunity may knock only once, but temptation bangs on the door forever!
