A Tale
A Tale Sit back and let me tell you a tale. Our hero is a working man, always does his best, completes everything that is asked of him. Now Friday our hero and his co-workers were called together and told that business was slow and they were being laid-off till things picked up, hopefully not too long. Well our hero pondered his career choice, wondering if there were such things as recession proof heroic pursuits. This morning while sitting around the castle in his underwear wondering how long he could play video games before he needed to update his resume and start applying for jobs, he received a call from his employer asking him to come in. This could be one of two things, either there was work or there wasnt and they wanted his key back, either way our hero went prepared. On arrival he witnessed his boss doing his job, and was asked if he could start out by taking out the trash, gladly. Something wasnt right, there was just something missing, it was too quiet. Then while taking out the trash, he saw the cup of Sir Grumpy Old Man in the trash. Thats what was missing, Sir Grumpy Old Man wasnt there. The boss soon confirmed that conclusion, indeed when Sir Grumpy Old Man was called to come in this morning he came in long enough to tell them he had decided not to work there anymore and grab his stuff. Now they were asking if our hero would like to start learning how to do Sir Grumpy Old Mans job. Why yes, this was better position, however the problem is that Sir Grumpy Old Man held all the secrets of managing the POS machine in the corner, and none too willing to help anyone who would replace him. Thus the challenge for our hero, overcome the challenge of the POS, or fail and be no worse off than he was yesterday. If this succeeds perhaps our hero could even quit his second job, maybe even be able to afford to look into classes to be prepared to move on come the next "slow period". Saddly this is where our tale must end for now, our hero needs to study an old owners manual. |
